Those students who are interested in pursuing a Master’s Degree or a Doctoral Degree in the Czech Republic are encouraged to apply. The Government of the Czech Republic offers scholarships through its Foreign Development Assistance program to assist international students from developing countries in their studies at public higher education institutions in the Czech Republic.
The Czech Republic provides scholarships for studies pursued both in the Czech language (in follow-up Master’s and Doctoral study programs) and in the English language (in follow-up Master’s and Doctoral study programs).
The scholarships are fully dedicated to promoting the education of foreign nationals from developing third countries. Duration of stay 2 years for Master’s degree in English, 3 years for Master’s degree in the Czech language (the year for speech course), and 3-4 years for Ph.D.
These scholarships are offered to citizens of selected developing countries to study at Czech public higher education institutions as an important part of the Czech Republic’s foreign development cooperation and have a long tradition. Scholarships are offered for both Master’s degree and Ph.D. studies.
Scholarships for studies in the Czech language are granted taking into account the list of recommended fields of study, updated according to the needs of specific countries, and also about ongoing development cooperation projects.
Applicants can also receive funding for a one-year-long language and preparatory course. Scholarships for study programs in the English language are granted only in the selected study programs.

- Selected Applicants for Master’s degree Scholarships may Study in Czech or English
- Applicants who choose to Study in Czech must take a 1-year long language preoperatory course before commencement of their studies.
- Those who wish to study for their Master’s Degree in English must demonstrate sufficient proficiency in the English Language.
- Ph.D. programs are exclusively offered in English, therefore applicants must demonstrate sufficient English Language proficiency
- Students applying for a Master’s study program must have completed a Bachelor’s study program at the time of application.
- Candidates applying for a Doctoral study program must have completed a Master’s study program at the time of application.
- An applicant for a scholarship from the Government of the Czech Republic is obliged to sit an online entrance English language test in the course of his/her application submission (if he/ she wishes to have his/ her studies in English).
