CRG International Biomedical Research Institute Fellowships for International Students 2021
Center for Genome Regulation (CRG) is an international biomedical research institute, established in July 2000.
CRG Beliefs:
CRG believes future medicine is based on today’s pioneering science.
This requires a multidisciplinary scientific team focused on understanding the complexity of life from the genome to the cell.
National Center for Genomic Analysis:
CNAG-CRG is a non-profit organization funded by the Spanish Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation and the Catalan government through the Department of Economics, Knowledge and the Department of Health.
Competitive grants and contract research with the private sector provide additional funds.
Staff at the center:
The center is staffed by highly qualified personnel, 50% of whom hold a doctorate degree.
The bioinformatics team along with its premier computing infrastructure (2.6 petabytes of data storage and over 1,250 computing centers) position the CNAG-CRG as a center of excellence in data analysis.

International Institute for Biomedical Research
(CRG) Fellowships:
Fellows will join research groups with top-level scientists and will conduct their research in one of the following areas:
- Bioinformatics.
- Medical Genomics.
- Cell biology.
Features of the CRG International Biomedical Research Institute Fellowships:
Selected PhD students will receive an annual employment contract with a competitive salary that will be renewed annually for a maximum of 4 years after applying the applicable national laws.
All PhD students will receive full coverage of health and professional insurance and will be included in the Spanish social security system.
Fellows will benefit from the center’s research and training program which includes an international scientific environment, advanced research training through technology courses and conferences, career development activities, and student community activities.

Standards and conditions:
- The call is open to applicants of any nationality.
- Applicants must have a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences within the European higher education system (with a minimum of 300 points) or an equivalent university degree allowing the start of the PhD program in the applicant’s country of origin by October 2021.
- Applicants must have an excellent academic record, prior research experience, and a strong commitment to scientific research.
- Applicants must have a high working knowledge of the English language.
- Applicants who have been previously invited to interviews after the selection process are not eligible to apply.
- Candidates studying the MA at the CRG during the 2020/2021 academic year are not eligible.
- It is preferable that applicants have not worked at the center for more than 3 months before the application deadline.

- Certificate of proficiency in the English language.
- Titled summary of the research proposal for graduation in either the master’s or the doctorate.
- Recommendation letters. 1 to 3 introduction from professors or your employers.
- A research paper in English as a template for the student’s writing, if available.
- Other certificates may enhance your chances of admission, such as attending national or international conferences, etc.
