Eligibility Requirements for IsDB Scholarship Application Form

The Program is open for academically meritorious students with a strong desire to engage in social services and community development after graduation. Candidates MUST ensure that they meet all the criteria of the program listed hereunder, failing which the Application will not be considered:

IsDB Undergraduate Scholarship Programme Eligible Criteria

• Must be a citizen of any of the IsDB member countries or Muslim communities in non-member countries.
• Candidates from non-member countries must be Muslim.
• Must have obtained a high school diploma or registered in one of the top 10 public/government universities in his/her own country.
• Must have a minimum of 70% in his/her high school final GPA.
• Must choose a field of study listed among the approved disciplines of the program.
• Must provide evidence of language proficiency in the university medium of instruction as relevant.
• The language proficiency must be supported by a document or certificate, e.g., for English, by a recognized language certificate such as TOEFL, or IELTS, or passed a required level test conducted such as by British Council or an equivalent system in French or another language).
• Must provide certified English or French translation of all documents in case if they are initially in other languages.
• Must not be in receipt of any other scholarship at the time of application and during the study.
• Must be medically fit and willing to undergo medical tests after selection.

IsDB Master Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

• Must be a citizen of any of the IsDB member countries or Muslim communities in non-member countries.
• Candidates from non-member countries must be Muslim.
• Must have a minimum of 70% in his/her Bachelor studies GPA.
• Must choose a field of study listed among the approved disciplines of the program.
• Must provide certified English or French translation of all documents in case if they are initially in other languages.
• Must provide evidence of language proficiency in the university medium of instruction as relevant.
• The language proficiency must be supported by a document or certificate, e.g., for English, by a recognized language certificate such as TOEFL, or IELTS, or passed a required level test conducted such as by British Council or equivalent system in French or other languages).
• Must not be in receipt of any other scholarship at the time of application and during the study.
• Must be medically fit and willing to undergo medical tests after selection.

IsDB Ph.D. & Post-Doctoral Research Scholarship Program Eligibility Criteria

• The Program is designed to help promising and outstanding scholars from member countries and Muslim communities in non-member countries who meet the following criteria:

1. Ph.D. study

• Have a Master’s degree in one of the fields of study of the program.
• Have minimum (“Very Good”) academic standing;
• Preferably have work and/or research experience.
• Have a research proposal in one of the fields of study of the program stating its scientific and development relevance to the community/country.
• Be medically fit and be willing to undergo medical tests after selection.

2. Post-doctoral research

• Have a Ph.D. degree in one of the approved fields of the program.
• Have minimum (“Very Good”) academic standing.
• Have not less than two (2) years of experience in the field of research.
• Must have a record of publications/research in the same field.
• Have a research proposal in one of the fields of study of the program stating its scientific and development relevance to the community/country.
• Be medically fit and be willing to undergo medical tests after selection

IsDB-ISFD Technical Vocational, Education & Training (TVET) Eligibility Criteria

Must be a citizen of any of the 21 IsDB LDMCs listed below.

• Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Benin, Burkina Faso, Chad, Comoros, Djibouti, The Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Niger, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somali, Sudan, Togo, Uganda, Yemen
• Must have obtained a high school diploma or registered in one of the recognized TVET institutes in his/her own country.
• Must have a minimum of 50% in his/her high school final GPA.
• Must choose a field of study listed among the approved disciplines of the program.
• Must provide evidence of language proficiency in the university medium of instruction as relevant.
• The language proficiency must be supported by a document or certificate, e.g., for English, by a recognized language certificate such as TOEFL, or IELTS, or passed a required level test conducted such as by British Council or equivalent system in French or other languages).
• Must provide certified English or French translation of all documents in case if they are initially in other languages.
• Must not be in receipt of any other scholarship at the time of application and during the study.
• Must be medically fit and willing to undergo medical tests after selection.

IsDB-ISFD Bachelor Degree Scholarship Programme Eligibility Criteria

Must be a citizen of any of the 21 IsDB LDMCs listed below.

• The language proficiency must be supported by a document or certificate, e.g., for English, by a recognized language certificate such as TOEFL, or IELTS or passed a required level test conducted such as by British Council or equivalent system in French or other languages).
• Must provide certified English or French translation of all documents in case if they are initially in other languages.
• Must not be in receipt of any other scholarship at the time of application and during the study.
• Must be medically fit and willing to undergo medical tests after selection.

IsDB-TWAS Scholarship Programme Eligibility Criteria:

Both Principle Investigators (PI and PI2) must be female nationals of an IsDB member country and hold a Ph.D. with good research experience and lead each research group.

(Note: The PI will be responsible for the coordination of the research, submission of requested documentation, management of the funds, and reporting of the expenses.

• All TWAS correspondence will be with this PI).
• Either of the PIs should be a national of an IsDB Least Developed Country.
• Each member of the group should operate in a university or research institution in one of the 57 IsDB member countries and should be represented in the proposal by a PI. No age limit is applied to the grant.
• Individual young scientists or leaders of research units currently holding a TWAS Research Grant in the Basic Sciences are not eligible.

When is the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Scholarship Portal 2023/2024 Applications Deadline?

The deadline for Islamic Development Bank Scholarship applications is six weeks from publication.

IsDB Scholarship Selection Process

• The review and selection process is undertaken by two Independent International Selection Committees, composed of academicians and chaired by the Senior Advisor to the IsDB President for Science, Technology, and Innovation.
• These Committees assess the applicant’s qualifications and eligibility requirements and ascertain the scientific and development relevance of their proposed fields of study/research proposal.
• Recommendations for final selection are made by these Committees and the selection of candidates is approved by the IsDB management whose decision is final.
• Note: Getting admission or being registered in a university does not mean automatic selection and is not a requirement for application. The final decision on the place of study is made by the selection committees of the IsDB Scholarship Programmes.
