University of Tokyo summer training

Participants studying in the fields of biology, chemistry, environmental studies, information technology, international studies, materials science and advanced energy, ocean sciences, physics and sustainability science studies have the maximum chance of being selected.

- Host University: The University of Tokyo.
- Duration: June 6 (Monday) to July 16 (Friday), 2021. (6 weeks).
- Application deadline: February 1, 2021.

Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Studies, Information Technology, International Studies, Materials Science, Advanced Energy, Oceanography, Physics, and Sustainable Science Studies.

- Division of Biological Sciences:
- Integrated Biological Sciences.
- Computational Biology and Medical Sciences.

Funding provided by the University of Tokyo Summer Training:
- University of Tokyo offers scholarship and housing for UTSIP program participants.
- UTSIP Scholarship Amount: 110,000 JPY (110,000 Yen) is sufficient for six weeks and it will also provide free accommodation.
Remember air tickets will not be provided.
Notes for Visa Exemption:
Conditions for applying for summer training at the University of Tokyo:
- If your country of citizenship and Japan have entered into a visa waiver agreement, then you can enter Japan without a visa.
- Please check this site from 66 countries with Japan such agreement.
- If your country of citizenship and Japan do not have a visa waiver agreement, you need a visa to enter Japan.
- UTSIP will issue the necessary documents that you need to apply for a short-stay visa.
Eligible Countries:
All nationalities are eligible: (United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Djibouti, Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Comoros, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Mauritania, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Somalia , Syria, Tunisia, Yemen).
- Participants must be currently enrolled in their undergraduate program at an overseas college or university for the duration of the UTSIP program, and will not have completed a bachelor’s degree.
- Participants who are considering pursuing graduate study at the Graduate School of Border Sciences or other graduate schools at the University of Tokyo, or anywhere else in Japan.
- Participants must participate in all activities including classes, laboratory work, and special events organized by UTSIP.
Documents required to apply for summer training at the University of Tokyo:
- Cover letter.
- Biography.
- Copy of academic records.
- Recommendation letter.
- Registration certificate.
- Certificate of Proficiency in English (applicants who are students at a university where English is the official language).
- A copy of your passport.
